Even with a major knee injury, Leon Powe could loom large off the bench during the playoffs. Perhaps the Cavs will bring a former nemesis into the fold.

RealGM.com posted an intriguing rumor this morning that says Leon Powe is considering an offer from the Cavs. Although the power forward that helped lead Boston to the NBA title two seasons ago will miss most of the season due to knee injury, he could be a legit factor come playoff time.
The question is would the Cavs offer him the bi-annual exception which would keep Powe in Cleveland for a guaranteed two seasons. Since the exception cannot be used two years in a row, Powe’s risk factor increases incrementally. Beyond the bi-annual exception, the Cavaliers do not have another way in which they can currently sign Powe, according to Cleveland Sports Business Reporter Mike Kluchin.

Please for once take a risk that could have a very high reward. This guy would really excite me and give the Cavs a team that would only really need Darnell or J.J. if an injury occurred come playoffs. I never get that excited because we always blow it but this could really be good news.
They could possibly sign him for the minimum instead of the bi-annual, but he has not been in the league long enough for the minimum to be worth more than 500,000 I think. I’d take him though, he can play, and even at the bi-annual I think it is worth taking the risk that he will get healthy
